Overview
Project Kobong is a proposed integrated energy and digital infrastructure platform in the Katse Dam region of Lesotho. Its estimated $6.2 billion investment encompasses pumped-storage hydropower, solar, battery storage, transmission, fiber connectivity, and an AI data center platform.
Development is subject to feasibility studies, permitting, financing, regulatory approvals, and definitive project agreements.
The figures alongside reflect the current project overview. The June and July 2026 announcements contain different solar and battery-storage figures; those dated releases are retained in the press archive.
